Red Bull drug ban in Germany and Jordan
Six german states have told retailers to pull Red Bull Cola off the shelves after a study found the drink to contain trace elements of cocaine.
Red Bull protested the decision and claims that the decocainized coca leaf extract that is used to enhance the flavor is completely safe and harmless. Bernhard Kuehnle, head of the food-safety department at the federal ministry for consumer protection confirms that “there is no danger”, yet local lawmakers regard the beverage as a ‘narcotic’ instead of a food product. Germany’s other 13 states are expected to soon to follow suit and ban sales of the drink as well.
One can of Red Bull Cola contains about 0.4 micrograms of cocaine. (A microgram is one-millionth of a gram). In order for the drink to be considered harmful, 100,000 litres would need to be consumed.
In Jordan the authorities are not taking any chances. According to the Jordan Times all Red Bull products have been withdrawn from the market, and the import of the caffeinated drink has been suspended. The president of the Jordanian Toxicologists Association says “drinking the energy drink with cocaine is very dangerous if it is taken with alcohol or narcotics”. Another ‘Red Bull Shit’ quote comes from from the director of the National Centre for Rehabilitation, who said that “any quantity of cocaine results in misuse or addiction”.

Much as I oppose drug criminalization in general, this I believe is a good thing. Frankly, whether this has to do with any microscopic traces of cocaine or merely the insanely high caffeine and sugar levels, Red Bull typically is consumed as a kind of legal crank, not unlike the original Coca Cola. Again, it is not surprising that our society criminalizes psychoactive plants, yet drugs of the “upper” variety – alcohol, nicotine and particularly caffeine - are readily available, often provided for ‘free,” even, e.g. by employers.Crank makes people more aggressively one-dimensional; obedient workers, soldiers and shoppers, without all the human complexities hampering productivity. It gives the user a feeling of increased energy, at the expense of brain functionality. I don’t know, it’s not as if I don’t enjoy a good cup of coffee myself, but the whole Red Bull craze is beyond my capacity for comprehension. I see young “urban” youths walking around with their little energy drinks all the time, looking all shady eyed, and they probably go through a dozen of the damn things a day. They are typically complete degenerates, incapable of holding an idea in their mind for more than a second. They are, in a word, the ideal future employees of McDonalds.

This reminds me of the spice thingy - you buy some shit, which is supposed to be legal, but contains various other nutritients/ingredients than listed on the label/packaging. It's just stupid. Assuming Red Bull doesn't contain any illegal substances, they made a fault that would harm their name/image. There would be no problem at all, when just listing the real ingredients...I think many mothers are going to ban Red Bull from their household, if they`d read this news...
@Andrey, f*** off, exploits won't work, and it's just stupid to try!
@Don Jia, your story makes sense, lots of it. Thank you for answering some of the questions I've had for a time now. Thank you for being sharp 'n awake ;)

this ban is about "red bull COLA", not about normal red bull. on the ingredients list of this cola are cocaleaves. it`s no secret for people who can read...to get to a dose that is working somehow,
you would have to drink 100.000 liters of it,
as far as they said in tv...
a poppyseed roll is much closer to a psychotropic effect with its morphinetraces in it. allthought its nothing to worry about.
by the way, german wikipedia says:"even today coca-cola contains ingredients of cocaleaves (but not the alkaloids)."
i guess its a conspiracy of red bull colas rival, who wants all the money from the cola market. or maybe its just stupidity?
whatever?!? i like red bull cola because it contains things like cinnamon, mustardseeds and alot of other spices. seems to be quite natural compared to other recipes.

For one, i think it's red bull's fault for not printing it on the can, i mean, you should know what you're consuming...
“drinking the energy drink with cocaine is very dangerous if it is taken with alcohol or narcotics”
should be:“drinking alcohol is very dangerous if it is taken with energydrink or narcotics”
“any quantity of cocaine results in misuse or addiction”.
UHHHH any quantity of everything can end up in misuse or addiction, i mean, humans are creatures of habit, everything we like, we would like to do it as much as we want, because we like it. (until we hate it...)
Goddamn corrupt politicians and toxicologists, doesn't anyone work for better of mankind anymore? is all about money and bribes?.....
