Higher Mind

Higher Mind is a supplement that supports cognitive brain functions. It contains vitamins, essential amino acids, plant extracts and phosphatidyl serine which is naturally produced by the body. It optimalizes the central nervous system which allows brain activity to increase. Higher Mind supports you while you do cognitive work (or studying). And if you work under pressure it decreases sensitivity to stress.

To have a healthy, well-functioning brain and nervous system, you need certain amounts of the essential nutrients. Your food must provide the necessary raw materials for nerve cells to grow, for the synthesis of neurochemicals and for the maintenance of nerve cell membranes.

Researchers have been investigating the functioning of a neuroceutical, phosphatidyl serine. This key structural molecule is integral to the matrix of fats and proteins that compose cell membranes. Although phosphatidyl serine is found in all the cells of the body, its highest concentration is found in nerve cell membranes.

Phosphatidyl serine can be found in some of the food that we eat. You can find it in soy beans, green leafy vegetables, rice and certain meat products. However, consuming an effective amount of phosphatidyl serine simply through food is difficult because 'the typical European diet' includes many refined and processed foods, resulting in a lack of phosphatidyl serine.

Effects

Phosphatidyl serine enhanced the production and reception of the Nerve Growth Factor (NGF). This is one of the most important proteins the body makes. It enables neurons to extend dendrites out to other neurons, allowing the brain to maintain an effective communication network.
Phosphatidyl serine increases levels of brain energy metabolism.

Other effects: Phosphatidyl serine has also been shown to reduce stress and depression.

Usage

One to four tablets daily with a meal.

Vitamin C (as calcium & zinc ascorbates), Thiamin (as vitamin B-1), Riboflavin (as vitamin B-2), Niacin (as inositol nicotinate & niacin), Vitamin B-6 (as pyridoxine HCl & pyridoxine alpha-ketoglutarate), Folate (as folic acid), Vitamin B-12 (as methylcobalamin), Biotin, Pantothenic Acid (as calcium D-pantothenate), Calcium (as calcium ascorbate, carbonate, malate & succinate), Magnesium (as magnesium malate, succinate, taurinate & oxide), Zinc (as zinc ascorbate), Manganese (as manganese citrate), L-Pyroglutamic Acid, L-Glutamine, Acetyl L-Carnitine, Taurine (as magnesium taurinate), DLPA (DL-phenylalanine), Phosphatidyl Serine (from 400 mg of Leci-PS), Inositol Nicotinate, PAK (pyridoxine alpha-ketoglutarate), Gotu Kola Leaf Extract, Bacopa monniera Extract, Eleutherococcus senticosus Root Extract, alpha-Lipoic Acid (thioctic acid), Vinpocetine, DHA (docosahexaenoic acid (Neuromins).

Other Ingredients: dibasic calcium phosphate, colloidal silicon dioxide, fiber, magnesium stearate, modified cellulose gum and stearic acid.

Warning

This product contains phenylalanine. Not to be used by phenlketonurics, pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Don't use Higher Mind in combination with antidepressant drugs containing MAO or SSR inhibitors. In case you have chronic high blood pressure or epilepsy, consult your doctor before using this product.

“Good supplement profile with lots of ingredients believed to support healthy brain function. I usually take one tablet 2-3 times per day as I feel this likely allows my body to better absorb the nutients. This supplement gave me a slight headache when I first started taking it, but this side effect was mild and went away after a day or so and was easily relieved with one 325mg aspirin. Vinpocitine can give headaches in large doses and this supplement has a good amount in it. Overall I'd say I feel good on this supplement and given its broad profile of ingredients, I feel it's all I need in terms of vitamin and herbal supplementation. It's a good value if you only take two per day, which should be adequate. I would like to see more of the ingredients in a chelated form, which research has shown makes them more bio-available.”
