Calea zacatechichi (dreamherb)

Calea dream herb is also known as 'dog grass' or Calea zacatechichi ("bitter grass"). The shrub belongs to the sunflower family and grows naturally in the Mexican highlands and certain parts of Costa Rica. Calea zacatechichi measures 1 - 1.5 m in height. The plant has many branches with oviform and opposite leaves (3-5 cm long and 2-4 cm wide).
It is used by the Chontal Indians of Mexico to obtain divinatory messages during dreaming and in Mexican folk medicine as an aperitif and to improve the natural metabolism. Indians have been naming Calea 'leaf of God'. It is valued for its ability to clear the senses, to induce visions in dreams and as a healing plant in general. Shamans use the herb to receive divine messages in their dreams. Ordinary people in Mexico use it to increase appetite and as a health product that supports a natural digestion, among other things.
Calea Effects
Calea provides a restful and drowsy effect. The psychoactive effect is subtle and can be described as dreamlike. Some people will notice a clarity of mind. Mexican Indians consider calea a hallucinogen, although no hallucinogenic alkaloid has yet been isolated.
Calea usage
3 to 25 grams of the crushed dried leaves are drunk as tea. It tastes very bitter.

“I actually bought some of this off another site as it was closer to home, but from my experience, yes the tea is completely fowl, worst thing i've ever tasted, smoking it is much more pleasant.
From smoking i have managed astral projection twice, although i found the best method is to wake up early in the morning, smoke it, then go back to sleep (if you can handle that it will be worth it im sure)
Or you can put it into pills and consume it that way, which is pleasant, but i haven't tried it in the early morning yet to see what the results are like.”

“I read about this stuff on www.calea-zacatechichi.com, and bought a bit from this site. It tasted TERRIBLE when I made the tea, but the dreams were worth it. If you can't handle the taste, smoking it was pretty enjoyable too.”
