Product information

Palo santo means 'holy wood'; it is the Spanish name for Bursera graveolens. This tree inhabits the South American Gran Chaco region (northern Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia and the Brazilian Mato Grosso). Palo santo is used by medicine-men and shamans at ayahuasca ceremonies, rituals, healing and cleansing sessions. It has a surprisingly strong and sweet smell when burned, which is why palo santo is used as incense.

Please note: Available in blocks of 70 - 80 g. Weight of the blocks may vary a little.

Usage

Palo santo is burnt and the smoke is spread to cleanse and purify the environment from evil spirits, negative energies and other bad forces. This wood has a very pleasant and comforting scent which is not comparable with any other fragrance. Burning a small piece of wood gives a peaceful warm atmosphere and leads you into a pleasant relaxed state of mind.

Warning

Palo santo is used as incense only. It is not meant for human consumption.

I've been trying out all types incense-sticks, resin incense used with charcoal and now palo santo, from all the types of incense I've tried, this one has by far the most relaxing scent, I stopped using incense-sticks since in my house one person couldn't tolerate the smell even in small amounts, giving them a headache, same with most of my resin incenses, but with this no problem.

As the scent fades it slowly becomes sweeter yet more subtle, very relaxing and comforting in a strange way. I highly recommend this purchase, especially since the quality of the batch I received is top notch! The wood itself smells slightly like liquorice when it isn't lit, a wonderful scent awaits anyone opening their bag of palo santo :D
