This peyote cluster shows in a beautiful way how the Fibonacci sequence can be found in nature.

The small thornless peyote cactus (Lophophora williamsii)   originates from the south of Texas and northern Mexico. The plant is a very important religious sacrament in many Native American cultures of Central and North-America.

Peyote clusters are available in various sizes:

  • Small cluster: Pot height 5 cm x diameter 5.5 cm. The cluster is 3 cm high on average.

  • Huge cluster: Pot height 6.5 cm x diameter 8.5 cm. The cluster is 5 cm high on average.

  • Grand cluster: Pot height 8.5 cm x diameter 10.5 cm. The cluster is 6 cm high on average.

  • Mega cluster: Pot height 10.5 cm x diameter 13 cm. The cluster is 7 cm high on average.

  • Giga cluster: Pot height 12 cm x diameter 16 cm. The cluster is 9 cm high on average.

Usage

These cacti should be grown for a couple of years before they can be harvested. Read What is a Peyote cactus? in our encyclopaedia for more information.

Just ordered some and it looks gorgeous but is Azarius positive that it's Lophophora williamsii and not Lophophora diffusa ?

Habe den kleinen Cluster bestellt. Lieferung erfolgte wirklich sehr schnell!

I ordered a giga cluster and it is simply beautiful :)

When do I have to water it the first time?

[Answer from Azarius: You can water it right away, and from then on every two weeks during winter time, and about once every week during summer. Be careful not to overwater it!]

I purchase the Cluster in pot 5.5 cm not for eating, and I must say that it is a real nice one, and they have a good customer support... and I will definitely come back to buy at azarius ;0)

I would like to update my review. I have spoken with Azarius and after closer inspection of the cactus, I can see it is the correct cluster I have received.
For that I apologize. The cluster has the specified dimensions.

The cluster itself is a beauty. There is a good amount of buttons and some tiny ones are trying to squeeze themselves out of the larger ones. The mother cactus is also fairly large, about 6 cm in diameter. The correspondence with customer support was also pristine.

Thank you, Azarius.

Beautiful cactus, very many buttons like it says. But I ordered a mega cluster and I ended up with only a huge instead. And to top it off, it wasn't a mistake. Because I could see and measure the firm potted soil of the cactus and it was only 8 cm, not 13. There was even put loose dirt in the sides of the root so that when I opened the package, I almost dropped the cactus on the floor. There is a decent difference between the two types.
Firstly, the basic size of the cactus and secondly, the €22 in price.

I love Azarius, I have nothing ill to say about my previous purchases, but this purchase was a sad experience. :(

[answer Azarius: Hi Daniel, have you contacted our customer support about this? Please drop us an email at [email protected] so we can look into this! Thank you!]

I ordered the smallest cluster and I was (and still I am) very happy about it. Seems too small to get enough for a trip, but if you be patient.. better order a larger cluster when you want to travel asap.

Package was absolutely professional and the plants were amazing. azarius, you are a wonderful shop in our strange Europe and saved many mental healths of ill people who doesnt trust in doctors anymore and I am a Physician...

Wie viel Gramm sind es etwa in den 3 Größen? Mit Angaben in cm kann ich vergleichsweise wenig anfangen... ;P

Reviewer

9.5/10

this might sound dumb, but which of the 3 sizes would translate into about 30 grams of the cacti? I was thinking the medium one would be a good start for just me , but perhaps the largest one for 2 people.

[ Azarius: Correct, the 'huge' is for one person (or you could let it grow for a while) but the biggest cluster 'mega' should already be sufficient size for 2.]

Reviewer

what is the age of the mega cluster?
and how much should i take as a first timer? 300mg?
do you harvest the small ones too?

greetz scarfo

[ Azarius: The big one is at least several years in the making. As for exact dosage, it's hard to say. We recommend checking on Erowid. ]

[ Azarius: Yes, but it's better to have it grow and eventually spawn its own clusters. These are not originally meant for direct consumption. ]

Reviewer

9.5/10

Not for eating those ones but they are big enough to grow well, the lower ones were very difficult to grow. and the really cheap offer from azarius! found the equal sized Peyote at other internet sites for 400 € !!! so, take your chance :-)

what a wonderful cluster!

Frage: Wieviel wiegt so ein Mega cluster?

[ Azarius: according to our system 800 gram, but we're not sure how accurate that is. When they're back in stock we'll weigh all versions and update the product page ]

Question for you guys:
If i buy a medium sized cluster would it be ready to consume on arrival? Or would I have to grow it more?
Also, I wouldn't eat all of it (probably just a few buttons). So how would I go about removing some but not damaging the rest of them so it would keep growing?

Thanks!

[ Azarius: Technically yes, the Peyote would be ready for consumption right away, though we normally recommend letting it grow a bit bigger. The medium one might not initially be big enough for a good trip. As for growing from a cutting, you can read this article (especially the bottom paragraph): http://azarius.net/encyclopedia/57/How_to_grow_a_cactus/

Good luck! If you need any more help, you can also e-mail our customer support ]

I received the small peyote cluster six weeks ago. Felt the urge to repot because the plant already deformed the pot it came in, although it wasn't really repot season.

It's sitting in a much larger pot now with 1:1 mix of cactus soil and small mineral stone debris. It came a bit shrivelled, looked fairly thirsty. After some waterings, the plant now looks much bigger and healthier. I can hardly imagine how it fitted the tiny pot!

Looking forward to watch it growing over the years. Thanks!
